The expected level of implementation of EV limousines is not easy to predict, as it depends on various factors, such as the demand, supply, cost, regulation, and innovation of electric vehicles and limousine services. However, some trends and projections can be identified.
There are some production EV’s that claim limousine status due to their quality and luxury, but they’re only 4 door sedans. I haven’t found any stretched EV’s other than a Nissan Leaf.
According to a report by Statista, the global electric vehicle market is expected to grow by 35% in 2023, reaching 14 million sales. This growth is driven by the increasing consumer awareness, government incentives, and technological advancements of electric vehicles. The report also states that China, Europe, and the U.S. are the largest markets for electric vehicles, accounting for 85% of the global sales in 20221.
However, the adoption of EV limousines may not be as fast or widespread as in the consumer market, due to some challenges and barriers. According to an article by Forbes, some of these challenges include
- high upfront cost,
- limited range,
- insufficient charging infrastructure, and
- lack of standardization, regulation, and certification of electric limousine services.
The article also suggests that the limousine industry needs to overcome the perception that electric vehicles are less luxurious, comfortable, or reliable than conventional vehicles2.
Benefits of EV Limousines
Some opportunities and benefits of electric vehicles in the limousine industry can be recognized. According to an article by the IEA, electric vehicles can offer lower operating and maintenance costs, lower emissions and noise, and higher customer satisfaction and loyalty. The article also highlights some examples of electric limousine services that have been launched or planned in different countries, such as China, France, Germany, Norway, and the U.K. These services aim to provide a premium, eco-friendly, and innovative transportation experience to their customers3.
Conclusion of Electric Vehicles in the Limousine Industry
The expected EV usage in the limousine industry is uncertain, but it could be influenced by the trends and developments in the electric vehicle market and the limousine industry. Some challenges and barriers may hinder the adoption of EV limousines, but some opportunities and benefits may also encourage it. Nissan stretched Leaf didn’t last, let’s see if anyone else stretches an EV like a BMW i7 into a luxury limo.
